Calgary Stampeders Roy Finch arrested for alleged assault of Oklahoma police officer

According to the report, police were called to investigate a vehicle that had been left running in the parking lot of an apartment complex for more than an hour.

Finch was booked on two complaints of assault and battery on a police officer, one complaint of resisting arrest and one complaint of marijuana possession.

Finch continued to be combative towards officer and eventually police used a Taser on him. The officers tried to detain Finch, they say he swung at one of them.

Officers found Finch near a gate and another altercation ensued, according to police.

The melee caused Finch to cut his face and he needed medical attention.

When officers arrived and spoke with the man in the vehicle, identified as 26-year-old Roy Finch, officers said they were able to smell marijuana.

According to the report, Finch is now being held in an Oklahoma county jail.

Finch, who has a home in Oklahoma City, was a running back for the University of Oklahoma from 2010 to 2013.

Finch was already in the Lincoln County system - he appeared in court on March 12 on one count of possession of a controlled unsafe substance and reckless driving.

His most productive season came as a sophomore in 2011 when he had 605 yards rushing and 296 yards receiving.

After his career with the Sooners, Finch went undrafted, briefly signed with the New England Patriots before landing in the Canadian Football League.

Finch now plays for the Calgary Stampeders, and returned three kicks back for touchdowns during the 2017 season. has disabled the comments for this article.
