The camera appears to be a big focus with the Xperia XZ2 Premium, but it's not the only feature Sony's touting with its new phone. Today, the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium was announced with high-end specifications and a 4K HDR display.

At first glance, the camera specs are a tangle of terms: "highest ISO 12800 sensitivity for video recording" and "ultra-high sensitivity 51200 for photos".

Coming to the camera department, the smartphone features a Motion-Eye dual rear camera setup with a 19-megapixel primary camera and a 12-megapixel secondary black and white camera. Using the Aube fusion image signalling processor, data from both cameras are combined on the XZ2 Premium for better low light imaging.

That, Sony promises, is the sort of sensitivity that until now would have required an interchangeable-lens camera. With this new addition to the flagship family, Xperia brings this highly advanced technology to the palm of your hand. The camera's low-light capability - as well as its artistic effects - are available for viewing with the live view-finder for an accurate representation of your subject. One of the image sensors among the dual-lens setup is unsurprisingly the 19MP Motion Eye sensor that can record slow-motion videos up to 960 fps on both FHD and HD resolutions.

Talking about the specifications, there is a 5.8-inch 4K (2160 x 3840) display on the front with HDR playback support. Thanks to this display you can enjoy your own 4K HDR content (since this is the only smartphone capable of both creating and viewing 4K HDR). The Xperia XZ2 Premium, as the name suggests, is an enhanced version of the Xperia XZ2 that made its debut at MWC 2018, and is yet to make its way to many global markets like India.

In other camera features, the XZ2 Premium features a bokeh mode, aka the portrait mode that we have seen on other smartphones, the front camera takes higher resolution selfies at 13MP, a significant bump from the XZ2's 5MP camera. It also bears stereo speakers.

It's also some 38g heavier, but the biggest design difference from the front is the fact that the Xperia XZ2 Premium retains a 16:9 display, so the bezels are bigger, especially to the top of the display. The device features a 3D glass body with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection at the front and back panels. The Xperia XZ2 Premium is expected to be released during Summer 2018 which is sometime around June. The phone is launched in two colors - Chrome Black and Chrome Silver. You will get immersive user experiences at lightning-fast connection speeds (up to 1.2Gbps) with the second generation Gigabit LTE solution. However, Sony's packing in 6GB of RAM to give the Premium model even more of a performance boost. It also has with Smart Stamina and STAMINA modes for those moments when you want to squeeze every last minute out of your remaining charge.
