The sanctions list targets a number of Russian tycoons, including Oleg Deripaska, a billionaire who once had close ties to Trump's former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort and Kirill Shamalov, an energy executive who married Putin's daughter. She has described the attack in Douma, just east of the capital Damascus, as barbaric.

"Tonight, France, the United Kingdom, and the United States took decisive action to strike the Syrian chemical weapons infrastructure..."

Washington, Paris and London said they have proof, without identifying it, that chlorine gas caused victims to suffocate.

Moscow warned against any strikes and threatened to retaliate.

The WHO said 43 people had died in Saturday's attack on Douma from "symptoms consistent with exposure to highly toxic chemicals", and more than 500 had been treated. Trump called out Putin for failing to eliminate Syria's chemical weapons as Russian Federation had pledged to do in 2013.

Konashenkov said Friday that Britain was "directly involved in the provocation", but didn't elaborate or provide evidence.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced Friday night that the three allies had launched military strikes to punish Syrian Assad for alleged chemical weapons use and to prevent him from doing it again.

As chemical weapons experts arrived in Syria to investigate a suspected poison gas attack by government forces, worldwide diplomacy was in high gear to head off an escalation, though accusations flew thick and fast between Washington and its allies, and Russia, Assad's main backer.

"A pre-designed scenario is being implemented", his statement says. He didn't elaborate or name the state.

As stated previously, Russia's red line would be an attack on their own troops harming Russian citizens.

According to a statement by the French presidency, Macron called for dialogue between France and Russian Federation to "continue and intensify" to bring peace and stability to Syria.

Trump had also said last week that Putin bore responsibility for the "atrocity" in Douma because of his support for the Syrian government.

The Russian leader warned against "ill-considered and risky actions ... that would have consequences beyond conjecture".

Russian Federation asked for one more emergency conference from the UN Security Council Friday, to try and resolve or possibly reduce the growing tensions between the country, trying to divert the possibility of war. He said "the Cold War is back - with a vengeance but with a difference", because safeguards that managed the risk of escalation in the past, "no longer seem to be present".

Early Saturday morning local time, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that more than 100 missiles were fired by the USA -led coalition retaliating against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's suspected use of chemical weapons.

He added that Russian Federation would "keep all its worldwide obligations in full".

At the United Nations meeting, Syrian Ambassador Bashar Jaafari warned that Syria would respond if the USA moved against his country.

Because Russia has said that they're going to be shooting down any United States missiles or any other missiles that are fired over Syria.

The British Royal Air Force's unit for the assault consisted of four Tornado GR4 ground attack aircraft armed with the Storm Shadow long-range air-to-surface missile, which the UK's Defense Ministry said targeted "chemical weapons sites" in Homs. The United States was effectively inviting the neighborhood brutalizer (don't forget the ongoing bombing of innocent civilians in Syria) over for coffee the day after he attacked its best friend.

For the USA, undermining the Russian role in Syria is the main goal, while for Israel, eliminating the Iranian role is the main goal.

The White House has since given out that it was guided by news reports and reports by other sources (probably NGOs) in accusing Bashar al-Assad.

"America's war against Syria, and against the region's peoples and resistance movement, will not achieve its aims", Hezbollah said in a statement published on its War Media Channel.

A fact-finding mission from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons is expected to arrive in Douma on Saturday.

The Russian Defense Ministry. the USA used Navy ships in the Red Sea, Air Force B-1B, F-15 and F-16 aircraft in the dawn attack.

But one major worry appeared to ease: that the coordinated attacks late Friday could have set off a direct confrontation with Syria's most powerful military partner, Russia.

"It will be in defense of a bedrock worldwide norm that benefits all nations", Haley said.

The United States didn't waste any time in disputing Russia's accusations.

If confirmed, the town's seizure would mark the last stage of Assad's takeover of the rebel-held enclave of eastern Ghouta.
