Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has urged his players to be more consistent next season if they are to challenge Manchester City for the title next season.

"I won eight titles and I am not [over] the moon because I won against Manchester City", he added.

However, on Sunday, United looked lazy and uninspired and one mistake during the match cost them a humiliating defeat against the bottom-placed West Brom. "Hopefully we can celebrate with our fans against Swansea [next weekend] and be champions because they deserve it".

"I think we were deservedly punished", he told Sky Sports.

Jose Mourinho has told Paul Pogba that he wants the midfielder to show more consistency for Manchester United this season and beyond.

"I have won titles, I would not be happy if someone say won title if someone lose a match", Mourinho said. Last not 20 years ago, it was three. I know how to win and I believe in myself.

The Portuguese manager said that City deserved their title and he had offered them his congratulations after the derby win.

"Consistency at every level, not just the performance level, but the mental, the day by day, everything must be consistent until the last day".

United gifting City the title by losing to West Brom came just a week on from them delaying their rivals' celebrations.

The France global has blown hot and cold at Old Trafford this term but produced an unforgettable performance in last weekend's Manchester derby to help the Red Devils overturn a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2.

After sacking Alan Pardew at the start of the month, Darren Moore has been handed the West Brom until the end of the season.

Jay Rodriguez struck the games only goal in the second half, and the Baggies held out for their first away victory since August.
