"A scorer in the final in the last success in the competition for the Reds, in 2016, the Spanish midfielder is also determined to ensure the Reds remain in second spot in the table". I won eight titles and I'm not in the moon because I won against Manchester City, a match that is just three points.

And they can thank fierce rival Manchester United for that.

West Brom's caretaker manager Darren Moore spoke to reporters after his side's superb 1-0 win against Manchester United yesterday, and disagreed with Jose Mourinho's claim that the visitor's only real threat was from set plays, as quoted by the Express & Star.

After resilient defence, West Brom delivered the blow on United in the 72nd minute of the game to silence the entire Old Trafford.

"As much as this has been a record breaking season, this one's for you, the fans", City captain Vincent Kompany told the team website. "They don't understand anything", he said.

He had gone 21 club games without a goal before his two against Manchester City; had he been a little more prolific, then perhaps the Premier League title race would have been significantly closer. I win titles. My last Premier League title was not 20 years ago, it was three years ago.

Few - including Guardiola - expected it to happen on Sunday.

It was a morale-boosting win for City after the disappointment of Tuesday's defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-finals. This league title is for you too!

United's loss to West Brom hands City the title, and after the match Mourinho gave his reaction to this development; one that has been a very long time.

Mourinho branded his players "masters in complication" in the aftermath of their defeat to the Baggies.

He said: "They won the title because they were the best team, because they won a great amount of points".

"I think it's a unsafe week for us, because we come from a very good result, and also I think a few consecutive victories in the Premier League, so our moment is good, playing against a team that is still fighting, and they will fight until mathematically it's not possible".
