"Violet has been chosen to make the wedding cake for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle".

Markle have asked Claire to create a lemon elderflower cake that will incorporate the bright flavours of spring. It will also feature buttercream and fresh flowers as decoration.

Rather than a traditional rich fruit cake, the bride and groom-to-be have opted for a lighter cake, which Kensington Palace said they were very much looking forward to sharing with guests at their reception.

Tatler, described Violet as an "East London hotspot", adding: "The rustic café feels a bit like stepping into your cool auntie's kitchen". "Knowing that they really share the same values as I do about food provenance, sustainability, seasonality and most importantly flavor, makes this the most exciting event to be a part of".

While Ptak has been the owner of the Violet Bakery in London, England, since 2010, she is from California, just like Meghan!

Meghan and Harry's lemon and elderflower wedding cake is being created by pastry chef Claire Ptak, a friend of Ms Markle's who was even interviewed by the former actress for her lifestyle blog The Tig.

Like Ms Markle, Ms Ptak was raised in California and worked as a pastry chef at Chez Panisse under chef and campaigner Alice Waters. She interviewed the pastry chef for her former lifestyle website, The Tig, which she shut down previous year as her relationship with Harry intensified.

Couple set to Wednesday at Windsor Castle; wedding date presents potential scheduling conflict for Prince William. She focuses on using seasonal and organic ingredients.

Harry, fifth in line to the throne, and Markle will Wednesday on 19 May at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle.

The guest list has not been released, and the designer of Markle's dress has so far been kept secret.
