A sample of the kinds of assets that can be part of your next Unreal Engine project.

Nothing! They're completely free.

Additional characters are also promised in the coming months, while an Unreal Engine Twitch livestream with animator Jay Hosfelt is scheduled for March 29 at 11am PST/7pm BST-and will walk those interested through how to set up animation Blueprints for Paragon characters.

Epic has announced they'll be releasing all their Paragon assets, which cost over $12 million to create, for free. These assets are now available for download in the Unreal Engine Marketplace, so be sure to download them right away. With a move made today, the success of Fortnite and death of Paragon is suddenly great news for many developers.

Earlier this year Epic Games made the hard decision to shut down their MOBA, Paragon, so they could focus their full resources on the wildly-popular Fortnite.

That includes 20 "triple-A quality" characters, with their respective skins, animations, VFX and dialogue, and over 1500 environment components.

"This can be used as a framework for animating the other characters in the Paragon packs".

- Environments: The Paragon release includes over 1,500 environment assets created for the Agora and Monolith maps, including a sample map for developers to use and customize as desired. #Epic Games plans on releasing more character packs throughout the year that are valued at millions of more dollars!

Epic has previously released similar free asset packs drawn from mobile hit Infinity Blade and from its evocative "Soul" engine demos. This is Epic's first such free release of assets from a big-budget PC game, though. You can use them in both commercial and non-commercial Unreal Engine 4 projects. We're looking at you and all the attractive, no-longer-used assets for Evolve, 2K Games.
