Ben Affleck Shows off Massive Back Tattoo While on the Beach

Affleck was spotted shirtless on the beach (he's filming a new movie titled Triple Frontier) with his massive back tattoo on full display. It turns out the massive ink in the back of the Batman depicter is real. Ben was photographed donning a pair of navy shorts.

The tattoo appeared once again in December when a set photo of Affleck's self-directed drama Live By Night was leaked out showing Affleck wearing an open-back gown that showed off a good chunk of the tattoo.

The ink was first seen six months after Affleck and Jennifer Garner announced they were ending their 10-year marriage in June 2015.

"[It's] fake for a movie", Affleck said of the piece in 2016.

Affleck, 45, had denied that it was a permanent ink, explaining the tattoo of the mythological creature was actually for a movie.

"I actually do have a number of tattoos... but I try to have them in places where you don't have to do a lot of cover-up... they get sort of addictive, tattoos, after a while."

"His tattoos always have too many colors, they shouldn't be so colorful".

But while Affleck may have gone on the record about how the tattoo wasn't real, that didn't stop his exes from speaking out about the inking. "What the hell was he thinking!"

- Dashiell Driscoll (@dashiell)Sarah Jessica Parker liking this Instagram post about Ben Affleck's terrible back tattoo is the funniest thing I have seen in 2018.

"I just hope that Ben Affleck's back tattoo is fake, for his sake at least", wrote another. Many have commented on the design and timing of the tattoo, especially since the phoenix symbolizes rebirth after a great trial. One other implied that Ben's "tattoo drama" was more interesting than Robert Mueller's investigation.

- Karen Howell (@karenehowell)Ben Affleck's back tattoo is, and I'm saying this without hyperbole, one of the funniest goddamn things I've ever seen in my entire life.

- Crystal Methanny (@RafiDAngelo)Peak schadenfreude at Ben Affleck's terrible, big breakup tattoo that was not, in fact, for a movie.

"You know what we would say in my hometown about that?" "A phoenix rising from the ashes".

"Am I the ashes in this scenario?" said the mother of his three children.
