After nearly a five-month-long tournament, it is finally Chennaiyin FC who have won the Indian Super League 2018 final.

A packed stadium will be hosting the title clash between two of the most consistent sides this season. "The fans have always been behind us", Bengaluru FC coach Albert Roca said on Friday. Skipper and local favorite Sunil Chhetri had scored his first hat-trick of the season during the Blues' 3-1 win at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Sunday, March 11. With goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu making it extremely hard for rivals to get past him, Bengaluru FC should feel confident that they can continue their fine run for another game.

Another trend that Bengaluru need to buck is to become the first team to win the final they host.

But the odds apparently even after all these acclaims are against the two time I-league Champions. The former Barcelona assistant manager though insisted his team is ready for the challenge. We know that we have won there before, and we are not the only team (to defeat Bengaluru FC at home). I am not expecting an easy game. Tomorrow is a big game against a very hard team. "But, we have done well until now and we are ready for the challenge", he added.

Bengaluru FC only made their ISL debut this season but they have impressed all and sundry with their attractive style of play. In the tournament's history, no team who is being on top the entire season has won the title. Chennaiyin finished first in the league table in 2014 but crashed out in the semi-finals. Miku's goal in the injury time for Bengaluru meant an exciting finish, but Chennaiyin held on to their lead to win the title. Against FC Goa in the semi-finals, Chennaiyin FC negated the threat of Goa's risky strike pair of Ferran Corominas and Manuel Lanzarote and will hope to do the same against Sunil Chhetri and Miku, who have combined to score 27 of their 38 goals.
