Terrorists target BJP leader Anwar Khan in Pulwama, PSO injured

According to the police, the militants fired at the Personal Security Officers (PSOs) of a BJP leader, Anwar Khan, near the Arsh medical institute at Khonmoh on the outskirts of Srinagar city. He was shifted to army's 92 base hospital in Srinagar for treatment.

"In the incident, one PSO namely Bilal Ahmad has sustained minor injuries", he said, adding that the suspected area has been cordoned off by police and security forces and is being searched.

Eyewitnesses said the militants attacked Khan at Balhama village in Khanmoh area when he was visiting an educational institution, however, they failed to snatch the weapons of the PSOs.

A policeman from the special operation group takes position during an encounter in Kashmir. The guards retaliated the fire and foiled their attempt. The militants were killed by security forces and the operation has ended.

Security forces used smoke shells to disperse protests, which broke out in Awantipora and Tral.

"It is learnt that Md Toufeeq, age 26 years, N/o Manuguru died in an encounter with security forces on night 11/12march in Hakkora of Anantnag district along with two other Kashmiri militants".

"As per recent update a gunfight has begun and militants have been hold up", the spokesman said.

Further details are awaited, they said.
