Vikings QB Case Keenum to sign with Broncos

His presence should make the Vikings a Super Bowl contender after they reached the NFC title game under Keenum last season.

The #Vikings are in the driver's seat for free agent QB Kirk Cousins. The big fish in the 2018 free agent class will be able to negotiate with teams from Monday afternoon, and the eyes of the National Football League will be firmly fixed on the unfolding situation.

While not all are sold on the idea of Kirk Cousins being a franchise quarterback, most experts admit that he's a far better option behind center than a guy like Keenum.

The Jets are also pursuing 25-year-old Teddy Bridgewater in free agency, according to various reports. No matter who the Jets pick, they'll need to cultivate a good young quarterback, something they have failed to do for years. Oh, and my personal (least) favorite headline, "Vikings prepared to offer Cousins monster deal".

The Washington quarterback will sign a three-year, $84 million contract.

Next year, Cousins' cap hit would exceed $39 million.

If you'd like to know how the fans in Denver feel about that move check out the sub-Reddit dedicated to John Elway's squad.

This is part of the reason the Broncos believe Keenum is a better fit. They will have a top-notch defense once again this season, while their offense will make a big leap forward if Cousins is indeed signed.

Keenum's arrival means Paxton Lynch is expected to return as a backup with competition from Chad Kelly and a potential draft choice - that has not been ruled out - as Denver plans on trading Trevor Siemian.

The Vikings are a team that's been looking for a franchise quarterback since Fran Tarkenton retired.

The Redskins overall had a disappointing season in 2017 at 7-9.

But you have to read to the end - all the way down, in fact.

Trevor Siemian, Brock Osweiler and Paxton Lynch all started games for the Broncos, the latter pair failing to win in any of their appearances in a miserable first year for head coach Vance Joseph. Cousins referred to Arizona wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald as "a great recruiter" after the two had an impromptu meeting at an Atlanta airport last week. I hate to brag, but it does appear that my preferred quarterback, Sam Bradford, was the TYPE of quarterback the Vikings want (ed).
