Today is also known as Pi Day for math lovers in the World.

Without increasing the price of a Pi, the Foundation has maintained its long tradition of making enthusiasts very, very happy (judging by the excited fangirl and fanboi squeaking on Twitter and Reddit) as well as reassuring industrial clients which prefer stability to shiny that the old models will remain in production.

"The new product is built around BCM2837B0, an updated version of the 64-bit Broadcom application processor used in Raspberry Pi 3B", it said.

The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+, thanks to its new Cyprus chip, supports dual-band wireless local-area networks (LAN) at 2.4GHz and 5GHz, gigabit ethernet over USB 2.0 which supports speeds up to 300Mbps, and Bluetooth 4.2 and Bluetooth Low Enegery.

The model has one HDMI port with a full size for display output and four USB 2.0 ports.

Power over Ethernet (PoE) is also supported for the first time, with the Raspberry Pi Foundation set to launch its own dedicated PoE HAT later this year.

As the name suggests, the Pi 3 B+ shares many features with the original Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, launched back in February 2016.

TechRepublic's Nick Heath got his hand on Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ and found out that this model of Raspberry is the fastest among all the Raspberry model available now.
