On Christmas Day, Prince William confirmed that his son had received his desired toy as a gift, and it seems that Prince George's love of police cars - and in fact all things to do with the police - has not waned since.

During an event at Kensington Palace celebrating men and women who work at New Scotland Yard earlier this week, Police commissioner Jayne Richardson told William that there are more officers needed in the capital.

One of this year's winners is PC Philip Stone, who was one of the people who helped out during the Manchester Arena bombing, as well as the Grenfell fire in 2017.

Prince George fans may fondly recall back in November when the boy-prince wrote a letter to Santa Claus saying all he wanted for Christmas was a police vehicle.

Richardson then joked (via Vanity Fair): 'We are recruiting, actually, so if George and Charlotte are keen?' Talking to Met Police officers and staff yesterday, Prince William divulged that four-year-old Prince George "is obsessed" by the police.

Prince William and Prince Harry spent time Tuesday evening speaking to the guests.

"We're only based just down the road in Kensington and I said to him, 'Perhaps Prince George and Princess Charlotte could join the police cadets.' And he said, 'Well he does like the police at the moment, '" she said. Despite the room for more gift requests, Prince George only had one wish- a police vehicle.

William also backed up his son's good behaviour, telling Santa that George had "been a nice boy".
