Jaya Bachchan could be richest MP, has Rs 1000 crore assets

Till date, the record is held by BJP's Ravindra Kishore Sinha, with assets worth Rs. 800cr.

Veteran actor and Samajwadi Party member Jaya Bachchan may well be India's richest MP. She is pro-active in Parliament, takes her files to Rajya Sabha like a child taking a slate to school, and stays inside the House till the final gong sounds. Now, as per the latest reports doing the rounds, Jaya Bachchan had submitted an affidavit at the time of filing for nomination for her fourth term and according to that document, she claimed to own assets worth Rs 1,000 crore jointly with her husband, megastar, Amitabh Bachchan. The value of their movable assets too rose from to around Rs 540 crore. Of that, Amitabh owns jewellery worth more than Rs 36 crore.

The affidavit showed that the couple own gold and jewellery worth over INR 620 million. Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan own watches worth Rs 3.4 crore and Rs 51 lakh only. The party is a noted political force in Uttar Pradesh. The Bachchans also own 12 vehicles right now, which are worth over 13 crores. Besides these luxury cars, they also own a Tata Nano and a tractor.

The couple own a 3,175 square metre residential property in Brignogan Plages in France other than plush properties in Bhopal (MP), Noida (UP), Delhi, Pune and Mumbai (Maharashtra), and in Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad cities of Gujarat. According to documents, Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan now have moveable assets valued at INR5.4 billion. Amitabh possesses a pen worth over INR0.9 million.

Alongside, Jaya owns a 1.22 hectare agricultural plot worth INR22 million in Kakori area of Lucknow.
