Xiaomi rolls out MIUI 9 stable ROM for all compatible devices

The latest smartphone from Xiaomi is none other than the Redmi 5, which is a successor to the Redmi 4 that was a massive hit in India in the under 10k price segment. It also comes with a separate Mi Drop cloud storage app, Do Not Disturb mode, App vault to secure all most-used applications in one folder, split screen (compatible with select applications only), new widget options, Home screen editing options and more.

With the launch of the Redmi 5 just a day away now, Xiaomi has made a decision to increase the price of the Redmi 5A. As per some reports from the gadgets 360 Amazon India has set up new webpage mentioning the Redmi 5 would be exclusive to its platform. Redmi 5 is expected to be launched at a price of around Rs 8,000.

Lin Bin has shared a short video clip to show how full screen gestures would work on the Redmi Note 5's 18:9 aspect ratio display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC, coupled with 2GB/ 3GB of RAM and 16GB/ 32GB of inbuilt storage. On the front a 5-megapixel selfie camera. Both the variants support microSD card for expanding the storage up to 128GB. The smartphone will sport a 12-megapixel rear camera, f/2.2 aperture and LED flash. The phone is available in Dark Grey, Rose Gold, and Gold colour variants. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.2, hybrid dual SIM/microSD slot, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, a microUSB port, and 3.5mm headphone jack. In addition to an improved performance, the MIUI 9 update will also provide system optimizations, refreshed user interface, new notifications, and app animations. If that turns out to be a right guess, then the Redmi 5 will be rivalling a slew of smartphones in the same price segment including the Xiaomi's own Redmi Note 5 that comes with better specs at Rs. 10,000. First, the universal search feature, which will bring a powerful search engine on a Xiaomi phone that can differentiate your image like you do by typing in keywords.
