Three Arrested Following Major Operation In Dublin

Gardai yesterday prevented an attempt by the Kinahan crime cartel to shoot a Dublin man linked to the Hutch family in Dublin's north inner city.

Three men, one in his 20s and two in their 30s have been arrested and three fire arms recovered following a Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau operation in Dublin this morning.

The men - two brothers, a former British army soldier and a dissident republican - have had their periods of detention extended and are in custody at various Dublin garda stations.

Gary Thompson had been charged with the 2009 gangland gun murder of criminal Graham McNally, but the charges against him were dropped without explanation at the Central Criminal Court in December.

The three had been under surveillance in a basement auto park when they were arrested.

Brown has a current address at Phibsborough Road, but is understood to be originally from Hardwicke Street flats in Dublin's north inner city.
