The V-Rally franchise hasn't been seen in 15 years and it's being brought by back with help from a developer from V-Rally 3.

V-Rally 4 will be released on the Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC this September.

Bigben Interactive and Kylotonn Racing Games today announced their collaboration on the return of the ultimate off-road simulation: V-Rally.

It's been a while since the V-Rally series has been in the public eye.

"It's a real privilege for me to once again work on the V-Rally series", said Alain Jarniou, Game Director at Kylotonn. Developed by Kylotonn Games, the French studio responsible for the WRC series and, more recently, TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge, V-Rally is making a belated comeback with over 50 vehicles including iconic rally cars and extreme motorsports vehicles.

The muddy off-road romp will throw rally enthusiasts into a number of extreme track conditions while taking in the sights across Africa, Japan, and Sequoia Park, and you'll also have the opportunity to master your drifting skills across hazardous courses and hop into an all-terrain Buggy to tackle some 'particularly rugged tracks'.

There hasn't been a new V-Rally since 2003, and frankly the two existing sequels never made as much of an impact, but the original 1997 game is still fondly remembered by many.

V-Rally Cross: Leave your opponents in the dust on these dirt and asphalt tracks and take on 7 expert adversaries.

V-Rally is a series which conjures up early console memories for a lot of gamers.

It'll boast some 50 models of auto and a variety of different events including straight-up rally, gymkhana, rallycross, hillclimbs and buggy events. A teaser trailer is embedded above, confirming the first new entry in the franchise in 15 years.

You can also prove yourself in V-Rally 4's Online and Career modes.
