Toyota has released a teaser image of the next RAV4, which is set to be unveiled at the New York Motor Show on 28 March.

The RAV4, last redesigned for the 2013 model year, was the nation's best-selling crossover last year, overtaking the Honda CR-V, and was the fourth most-popular vehicle overall, behind three pickups: the Ford F series, Chevrolet Silverado and Ram.

The smaller electrified unit, first introduced in the latest Prius, will have 121bhp, while the larger one will offer 178bhp and is the world's most thermally efficient engine in production.

Toyota has provided a partial glimpse of the all-new Rav4, scheduled to make a full appearance later this month in NY. The published image shows the SUV's silhouette, which will boast a flatter nose, a lower roofline with a slimmer greenhouse as well as a less upright rear window.
