Five people were injured when ductwork fell from the ceiling and into the pool at Kalahari waterpark resort in Sandusky.

Erie County Sheriff Paul Sigsworth said five people had minor injuries in the incident.

Two were briefly hospitalized, while the other three refused emergency medical attention. One person on Twitter shared a photo of the pool after the incident, which shows the large ducts partially floating in the water. They say all injuries are considered minor. The guests declined medical treatment, and the employees were treated by doctors and released.

Sheriff Eric Sigsworth says the water park will remain closed until local and state officials complete their inspections and provide clearance for it to reopen.

Police responded to the incident in Sandusky on Monday afternoon. Kalahari's extensive and thorough safety protocols assisted in identifying the issue and evacuating the waterpark immediately.

The park is now closed to visitors.

"We are aware of the situation and take the safety and security of our guests very seriously", said a Kalahari representative in an email. The waterpark will re-open when all safety regulations are not only met, but exceeded.

Kalahari says it's working closely with its internal teams and authorities to determine exactly what happened.
