Man killed after cousin accidentally fires from pistol while clicking selfie

The incident has happened in Delhi's Sarita Vihar where the 17 year old had a loaded pistol of his father, who is a property dealer.

"Both started clicking photos and selfies with the pistol".

New Delhi, Mar 9 A 23-year-old man was killed after his cousin accidentally fired from a pistol while they were trying to click a selfie with it in southeast Delhi's Shahdara area, police said today. The minor boy was taken into custody on Friday, he added while mwntioning that that negligence on part of Pramod Chauhan was being investigated.

Police said before the shot, the victim had asked the boy to pose "James Bond style". "He pulled the trigger accidentally", said a senior police officer.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East) Chinmoy Biswal said that a call about the incident was received from the hospital.

Hearing the gunshot, the minor's mother and sister, who were in the adjoining room, rushed to the locked room and forced the teenager to open the door. "The pistol belonged to minor's father Pramod Chauhan".

Family immediately rushed Chauhan to Apollo hospital where he was declared brought dead.

"A PCR call was made around 6.30 p.m. stating that Mr. Chauhan has been admitted with gunshot injury". A team reached the spot found Chauhan dead.

Biswal said the police have registered a case under IPC Section 304 (Culpable homicide not amounting to murder).
