Cleveland Browns nab Tyrod Taylor from Buffalo Bills for 65th overall pick

Jarvis Landry is leaving one bad offense for another one.

They spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because NFL rules prohibit trades from being announced until next week when free agency opens and the league's new calendar year begins.

If the Browns zero in on a specific quarterback, Barkley will be available to the Giants, who might not be able to pass up the chance for an All-Pro talent to team with Odell Beckham Jr., Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram in 37-year-old quarterback Eli Manning's twilight years.

"Y'all better understand s-- about to get SERIOUS. ON MY MAMA", Landry tweeted after news of the deal broke.

The trade was among a flurry Friday by the Browns.

The team later added Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor in exchange for the 65th pick in this year's draft, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Landry, 25, signed the franchise tag last Thursday and is slated to earn $15.982 million this season unless the Browns work toward a long-term contract.

He's likely to get that extension from the Browns.

Landry made $894,000 a year ago, when he completed the contract he signed as a rookie.

Dorsey clearly isn't satisfied with just waiting on and using free agency to recruit and ultimately overpay players to come to Cleveland.

But Landry's volatile personality became a concern for Miami.

Landry clashed at times with controlling coach Adam Gase and was ripped by Gase after being ejected in the fourth quarter of the season finale against the Buffalo Bills.

Miami's passing attack in 2017 gave Landry a freakish stat line: 112 receptions to lead the league and break his own franchise record, but an average of 8.8 yards per catch to rank 110th. He a career-high nine touchdowns but finished 13 yards shy of 1,000. Those incidents could have contributed to his departure after he and the Dolphins appeared to be headed for a long term deal earlier in the year. Receivers Kenny Stills and DeVante Parker are expected to return, along with quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who missed all of 2017 because of a knee injury.

The Browns were expected to target a quarterback in free agency, but instead have landed the dynamic Taylor.

The Baltimore Ravens, an AFC North foe of the Browns, were among the other teams interested making a move for Landry, the Miami Herald reported.

If they pick the NFL Combine-crushing Barkley at No. 1, they still would be guaranteed of a choice between at least two of USC's Sam Darnold, Wyoming's Josh Allen, UCLA's Josh Rosen and Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield at quarterback. A second-round draft pick (No. 63 overall) in 2014, the Louisiana State product had 84 receptions for 758 yards and five touchdowns as a rookie.

Friday, though, mainly was a reminder that this is not Dorsey's first rodeo, with 26 years of National Football League player personnel experience including four years as GM of the Kansas City Chiefs, and that this draft will proceed as he sees fit.
