Simeone's focus on Atletico despite PSG speculation

With Unai Emery expected to be relieved of his duties by PSG after their Champions League last-16 exit at the hands of Real Madrid this week, Simeone is reportedly a contender to take over.

That lesson should be drummed into the heads of defenders across the land, and it's one Lokomotiv Moscow could have done with heeding ahead of their Europa League clash against Atletico Madrid, tonight.

"Celta Vigo", he replied when asked about the PSG position, referring to Atleti's next La Liga opponents, as quoted by Goal.

However, despite the long-term project feel, the 47-year-old has consistently been linked with a move away from Madrid, with Everton also believed to be showing interest this summer as they look to call an end on Sam Allardyce's reign.

"In the whole match we were superior", Simeone said. "In the first half we did not play so well, had to answer some questions that they had posed".

"In the second half we stopped them better".

The Spaniards had won their previous five games at Wanda Metropolitano without conceding and continued that impressive run against the Russian Premier League leaders.

The Lokomotiv goalkeeper almost gifted Atletico a second on the half-hour mark when he wandered off his line and tried to take on Antoine Griezmann, who pinched the ball but could not slot it into the vacant net from the left byline, his side-footed shot rolling wide of the post.

"The present is looking good for him and the future looks even better". Things don't happen by chance.
