Ahead of the 2019 elections, President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to unite and work to ensure that the party achieves victory in the elections.

The PDP, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, on Tuesday, said it was disheartening that while the parents of the abducted daughters are wailing and the insurgents are fleeing deeper, the President and his APC leaders are busy feasting in the Presidential Villa and plotting their bound-to-fail 2019 re-election campaign.

"We must support our security agencies to safeguard our country so that the job of development as outlined in our manifesto can proceed without too much interruption".

While expressing appreciation to the party leadership at all levels for service to the party, President Buhari said "In particular, I commend the National Chairman for steering the party from success to success". Tinubu has been charged with responsibility of reconciling all aggrieved members of our party, we can not afford to approach general elections with more dispute and crisis.

He paid tribute to Nigerians who supported the government in spite of distractions from what he called ´´proponents of business as usual´´.

"We wish to bring to the notice of Nigerians that the sum of $52 billion was used by the President in two years to achieve what could not be achieved with $445 billion in five years", Daura said.

Addressing newsmen shortly after a closed door meeting which lasted about three hours, Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, in company of other governors and party officials, told newsmen that the NEC meeting chose to extend Chief John Oyegun led NWC, relying on Article 13 of the party's constitution.

"We have stabilised the naira and increased our foreign reserves from $20 billion to $40 billion".

He also hailed the report presented by the Governor El-Rufai led APC committee on restructuring.

He said: "Nevertheless, I am not asking us to relax and take things easy".

The general elections are fast approaching with internal crisis threatening the APC preparations.

Earlier, the party's National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, said despite the successes recorded by the current administration, the 2019 elections beginning with Ekiti and Osun would be challenging.

At the NEC meeting, the President canvassed support for Tinubu as he sets about the task.

He, therefore, urged the members to get their acts together and to cooperate with the Sen. "Accordingly, I implore all members of the Party to give the Asiwaju Committee full cooperation to resolve differences existing amongst our members in the states affected".

"I now turn to the party differences in various states". If we didn't have differences we wouldn't be a genuinely democratic Party.

"But, we must not lose sight of our common goal as a party to break the mule of Nigerian politics and take the country to new heights", the president stated.

"The party made it clear that this endorsement is not an automatic ticket for the president", one of the sources said, adding that the party would still conduct a presidential primary to be fair to other potential candidates.

"Regardless of the outcomes of the primary processes, it is imperative that we all work together to ensure the victory of our party".
