Rajasthan Royals, are making a comeback in the league after having faced a two-year ban in the famous IPL fixing scandal, and would be looking to aim a ideal captain to flag-bear the team. Rajasthan are making a come-back into the competition and have roped in their former captain Steve Smith, who is likely to lead the team but team's mentor Shane Warne believes that the team has got a lot of natural leaders to pick from.

England all-rounder Ben Stokes was the most expensive buy in the IPL player auction at Rs 12.5 crore while Steve Smith - the Australia skipper who led Rising Pune Supergiants past year - and Ajinkya Rahane have demonstrated their leadership skills on the big stage.

"A captain is instrumental to create a culture within the team".

The Rajasthan Royals had quite a few options in their ranks while settling on the name of the skipper and they've chose to appoint Steve Smith as the captain.

England all-rounder Ben Stokes was bought for Rs 12.5 crore while Indian bowler Jaydev Unadkat was taken for Rs 11.50 crore.

Speaking at the appointment of Smith as the captain, Head of Cricket, Zubin Bharucha said, "We have some great players and cricketing minds in the team with proven leaders like Steve Smith and Ajinkya Rahane".

Sportstar was first to report the development in January, when Badale had told this publication that Smith was set to lead the team in the eleventh edition of the tournament. They also have the likes of Steve Smith, Ajinkya Rahane, D'Arcy Short and Sanju Samson at their disposal. There are two names which have surfaced from the KKR dugout as potential captains, Robin Uthappa and Chris Lynn. These include the team of Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab. The KKR have also made a decision to unveil their captain on television and will follow suit Rajasthan Royals. Thank you for giving me the honour and privilege of leading the Royals.

Rising Pune Supergiant had appointed him their captain in the IPL 2017, the team that failed to win most of their matches in 2016 suddenly performed like an inspired bunch. The Delhi southpaw led KKR in six seasons, lifting the title twice.

IPL 2018 will square off from April 7 and will end on May 27.

The 11th edition of IPL starts on 7 April with defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on two-time winners Chennai Super Kings.
