Anthony Davis' latest comments do not bode well for the Pelicans

"We have just been hit with the injury bug every year since I've been here so we can't see our full potential". I feel like we are trying to get the right pieces around here.

What was that about being a star point guard your senior year in high school again Skip?

"Obviously, losing DeMarcus is a huge loss, but my message to the team is we can still accomplish what we set out to do". So much so that you reread the first part of his comments, and the "I don't plan on leaving in the next couple of years or anything like that" part starts to stick out a little more than you'd like.

That's one of the NBA's biggest storylines, as the uber-talented big man is stuck on a mediocre New Orleans Pelicans team that won't contend for a title anytime soon.

"I don't go into any year saying, OK, I don't want to be here or nothing like that". AD is easily one of the best bigs in the game today by a country mile, and even though he hasn't fared that well in terms of team success, that can be attributed to the Pelicans' front office, rather than Davis' performances. He knows the Pelicans are going in the right direction. "That's how I'm approaching it".

"Yeah, when you hear that, it makes you think. I have always said that I want to be here and that's still true".

"But at the same time, I can't do anything about it whatever they decide to do with me".

Cousins' injury was a complete flat tire for this Pelicans roster that was peaking at the right time, holding on for dear life to their eighth spits and now finding themselves just one game out of fifth place and 1.5 games ahead of 10th in what's been a really tight race in the West.
