Coutinho came through the Vasco youth academy and spent his two years with their senior side on loan there after Inter signed him in 2008; he made 19 league appearances and scored one goal.

"I have been trying to score since my first game and I'm happy to have done that, although the most important thing is that the team won the game and we are able to leave here happy".

"Everyone knows that I wanted to come to Barcelona", the playmaker told Fora de Joc on Catalan channel 8tv.

He was also a member of Jurgen Klopp's teams that lost to Manchester City and Sevilla in the League Cup and Europa League finals in 2016. "It wasn't possible in the summer, but we worked so that it could be done in winter".

Coutinho opened the scoring for Barcelona in their 2-0 win over Valencia in the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg on Thursday night to secure a 3-0 aggregate victory.

However, having already represented Liverpool in this season's Champions League, Coutinho is not eligible to play in Europe this term for his new club as Barcelona face Chelsea in the round of 16.

Since his move, Coutinho has featured four times for Barca and says he now wants to "take advantage" of playing with some of the best players in world football.

But he insisted: "He is a genius and anyone who plays with him, he makes them a better player". As incredible as it seems, Leo is getting better, as a fan and now as a teammate, I can only take advantage of the moments.
