Teen raped during Padmaavat show at cinema hall in India

The accused, a construction worker, has been arrested.

The Hyderabad Police arrested a man on Wednesday for allegedly raping a 19-year-old girl inside a cinema hall in the city on Monday, ANI reported.

The accused man has been identified as 23-year-old Kandakatla Bikshapathi who drives JCB by profession.

The accused was arrested on January 31 and sent to judicial custody the following day.

He then took the teenager to a park from where they chose to go and watch Padmaavat at Prashant theatre in Secunderabad. The police is also mulling to book cinema hall management for negligent behavior and lack of security for women in their theater. "Later, inside the theatre, he raped her by luring her with fake promise of marriage", the report quoted inspector M Mattaiah as saying. Bikshapathi again visited Hyderabad on January 21 and met with the victim again at Swathi Hotel. Following the complaint by the victim, the police registered a rape case under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police said that there were only a few people present at the cinema hall. The victim has injuries on her private parts and is undergoing treatment, said a police officer.
