Idris Elba Thinks It's Time For A Black or Woman James Bond

"I think it's more about, 'we just want to have a black guy play James ' rather than 'Idris Elba the actor play James Bond.' That's the part that I'm like, 'Ugh, come on, '" he told the New York Times previous year.

But the topic of OO7 was bravely revisited during an interview with Variety at the Sundance Film Festival, during which Elba suggested that the world was ready for a female Bond, which could be played by a black actress.

"It could be a woman, it could be a black woman, it could be a white woman".

"There is no such thing as a 'Black Bond, ' It's just about are we interested in seeing a Bond other than being male?"

As for calls for him to take on the spy role, he fumed: 'It's interesting that the James Bond thing continues to go on.

"About four years ago he [Craig] said Idris Elba would be a great Bond and then it started to creep - I blame Daniel", he added to THR.

Craig is now preparing to slip into Bond's tuxedo for the final time, bowing out at the end of his fifth turn as agent 007, 13 years after stepping into the role. "It could be a woman-could be a black woman, could be a white woman", Elba said.

Elba probably could have been a magnificent James Bond, as he has already dabbled in action films, has a lovely accent and looks pretty incredible in a suit. With all the Bond movies we have had good and bad, I don't think it's a bad idea to change it up, even if it is just for one or two films.

'Right now it's Daniel Craig, and I'm very happy with Daniel Craig but who knows what the future will bring?' If, in fact, they were to cast a woman to play the MI6 agent, who would be your first pick?
