Brown says Marvin went to rush the stage, but was held back by family members and staff.

It is unclear as to why the fight started but the individual who uploaded the video to Facebook said Brown asked the man what was his problem was. "The comedian asked, 'what's wrong?' He just shook his head like, move on to somebody else".

Clearly shocked and astounded the audience members begin screaming while the man in question continues to swing the stand aggressively at Brown who is merely protecting himself.

Then the audience member got mad.

In the video, at first, the attacker tried punches. He then grabs a stool and throws it at the comedian.

Brown claimed in the video that he didn't provoke the man. "Next thing I know, I know the comedian was saying, 'This is not what you want.' So I looked and I saw the guy was getting up from the table". Next, he tried lobbing a stool at Brown.

Brown also posted a photo of the cut he got on his arm from the mic stand. Brown escaped largely unharmed, but in a post to Instagram, he said the incident shows "why these comedy clubs should have well equipped PROFESSIONAL security to protect us entertainers who bring their club so much money".

"I thank God for looking out for me and giving my old ass the ability to Bob and weave because this could have ended in (SIC) terrible way".

Management at the Comedy House declined to comment when reached by The State.

The Richland County Sheriff's Department is investigating after video of the assault at the Comedy House on Decker Boulevard spread via social media. It states he was using alcohol. But deputies instructed them to break off their chase for safety reasons.

Comedian Steve Brown spent almost 30 seconds dodging the frenzied attacks of a fan who rushed the stage and attacked him with the mic stand and a stool. A fourth victim, a woman, reported an injury to her foot.
