Oregon State failed to build much of a lead because it was equally cold against UCLA's man-to-man defense. UCL (13-7, 4-4) made nine consecutive baskets and got within 88-87.

Troy Brown finished with 17 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals - including a momentum stemming steal and layup midway through the second half.

Perhaps no two teams in the Pac-12 played a two-game series as exciting as the one UCLA and OR put together previous year. Pritchard would be fouled on the inbounds and drain both of his shots to regain the three-point lead. Ionescu made two free throws to keep OR within 81-79, but McWilliams followed with a three-pointer on which she was fouled, and made the free throw that proved to be the daggar.

McWilliams, who played 42 minutes, scored nine points, had a game-high eight assists, and turned in quality defensive work on Ionescu, who was 11 of 27 from the field.

OR closed the gap in the second quarter when Ionescu raced to chase a ball that rolled half-way across the court then calmly drained a 3-pointer to pull within 28-24.

OR scored 6 consecutive points with 19:45 left in the 2nd Half, making the game 38-36 in favor of Oregon.

Elijah Stewart led USC (15-6, 6-2) with 18 points and Jordan Usher went 4 for 4 on 3-pointers en route to 14 points.

Bench scoring was controlled by USC with 20 points off the bench compared to Oregon's 16 points.

Hebard finished with 24 points for the Ducks. Marcus Shaver Jr. scored 13 points and JoJo Walker 12. Kenny Wooten's 56th block of the season passed ASU's Mario Bennett and Washington's Marquese Chriss for eighth place on the Pac-12 single-season list for freshmen.

"We've just got to continue to stick to what we know works for us, defensively, offensively and not vary from that", coach Tinkle said. The Lions cut it to four points inside the final minute, but a Walker steal sealed the win. The first four-point play of her career could not have come at a better time. Tinkle leads in rebounds with 7.4 while Jaquori McLaughlin tops in assists with 3.7 per game.

Next for the Pilots is a Thursday game at the Chiles Center against Gonzaga. USC (14-6 overall, 5-2 Pac-12), riding a three-game winning streak, sits a half-game behind Arizona and Stanford (both 5-1 in conference). Holland Woods' missed a driving layup and Deontae North's put-back missed. North led four Viks in double figures with 22 points and Holland Woods scored 15.

No. 6 OR (17-3, 6-1 Pac-12) is on the cusp of a Civil War breakthrough, perhaps as soon as Sunday. Ryan Edwards had 12 points and 10 rebounds and made a late tip-in to get Portland State within two points. Arizona and USC, the top two teams in the Pac-12, each rallied past the Ducks in the final minutes before OR stopped that string against the Bruins.

Tres Tinkle had 14 points at halftime and the Beavers were 14 of 14 at the line. "They swung the momentum and hit some big shots". They were 6 of 9 in the second half. Olesinski tried to sell that he was putting up a shot and deserved three free throws, but the referees agreed that McIntosh grabbed him before the shot, and Olesinski made two free throws to get the Bruins within 90-89. 11 Arizona State last week. Thompson was 4 of 12 in the previous four games.

"They're competitors. I mean we're 17-3". LMU (12-7, 4-4 WCC) outscored Portland 21-11 in the fourth quarter.
