Ahead of NPD Group publicly releasing its sales report for the month, Nintendo has shared some figures from it that paint a positive picture for not just Switch, but 3DS as well.

How do you get to 4.8m Switches in ten months? Nintendo also stated that since its launch 10 months ago, the Nintendo Switch has sold more than 4.8M units, making it the fastest-selling home console in USA history.

Nintendo said in the release since Switch launched 10 months ago, it has sold over 4.8 million units, making it "the fastest-selling home console in United States history". That was an increase of 27% compared with December 2016, and it marks the system's best-selling month in the USA since December 2014.

Various Switch titles also finished high on the chart of most sold. That is, of course, unsurprising, considering that the Switch is a new console while the Xbox One and PS4 have been around for a while, but the amount of Switch units Nintendo moved in December might come surprise even those who expected it to do well. Combined, all the versions of the Nintendo 3DS sold more than 750,000, a 27% increase over last year's December. USA lifetime sales for the 3DS family now stand at 21 million.

The 3DS took some of the spotlight this holiday season as well, selling more than 750,000 units in the USA for the month of December, putting the lifetime sales of the 3DS over the 21 million mark in the US - that's a lot of 3DS's!

Additionally, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon for Nintendo 3DS finished in 13th and 14th place, respectively.
