A young Florida man just became millions of dollars richer.

He opted to receive a one-time payment of $282m, instead of the full amount over a longer period of time.

Shane Missler matched five numbers and a bonus ball to scoop the fourth largest win in the U.S. game's history.

Missler plans on plunking down some of the lottery loot for a new home in Tampa and then pursuing a "variety of passions", according to the Florida Lottery, as well as helping others.

In fact, Missler informed officials that after purchasing the ticket at the 7-Eleven convenience store on Ridge Road in Port Richey, about 40 miles northwest of Tampa - he had "a feeling" he would win the jackpot. I look forward to the future.

We're told Missler reached out to Morenstein to let him know he's been a big fan for years - and he'd just won the lottery.

So when the numbers 28, 30, 39, 59, 70 and the Mega Ball, 10, were announced, Missler said he simply placed a call to share the news with his brother.

The newspaper reported Missler had turned his winning ticket in on Friday, "grinning widely".

The winning numbers of 28, 30, 39, 59, and 70, as well as the Mega Ball number, 10, to become the sole victor.

"If there is one thing I have learned thus far in my short time on this earth it is that those who maintain a positive mindset and stay true to themselves get rewarded", Missler said in a statement quoted by the Time.

The money will be paid to a trust with Missler set as the managing member.

All lottery winnings are subject to a 25 percent federal tax withholding.

Played in 44 USA states, the record Mega Millions jackpot stands at $656 million (£477m), won in March 2012.
