USA media are playing down expectations the medical will silence the debate over the president's mental health.

After all, they say the military spent an bad lot of time to make their son Daniel a warrior, but "They did nothing to take him from that warrior status and train him how to be a civilian again", Jean said.

Chatter about Trump's mental health increased after a book on the US President, Fire and Fury: Inside Trump White House, described him as an "undisciplined man-child" who did not want to win the presidential elections. Usually the results buffer their standing as healthy, capable leaders. "It's really important to get them during the first year to let them know what they're experiencing is normal in an abnormal circumstance".

Some psychiatrists have raised concerns about the president's mental fitness for office, pointing to his unpredictable Twitter feed, among other indicators.

Physical exams for presidents have been a norm since Richard Nixon, according to ABC News, but they aren't required.

The physical test will include blood and urine tests and heart checks.

Past exams have also included details about the commander in chief's vision, thyroid, cardiac rhythms, gastrointestinal system, skin and neurological indicators like cerebellar function, motor functions and sensory systems.

White House physician Ronny Jackson will conduct the exam, White House officials said. Past presidents have been largely forthcoming with their medical records, including some embarrassing details like when President Bill Clinton's doctor revealed he had hemorrhoids.

The US president was speaking from prepared notes as he announced a plan to look at the country's libel laws at a White House Cabinet meeting. The president has also uttered a number of falsehoods about others, such as saying then-President Barack Obama was not born in the United States. But already his diet has been widely discussed, including his proclivity for fast food, well-done steak with ketchup and diet cola. He doesn't smoke or drink alcohol.

It is very clear that the desensitization to insanity, a phenomenon which it was feared a Trump presidency would create, has come to fruition.

Donald Trump rubbished the rumours over his mental instability by calling himself "a very stable genius".

As we reported during the campaign, Trump wanted to "open up" libel laws, which he called "impotent". The normally routine examination coincided with swirling questions about Trump's physical and medical fitness for office.

The order opens the doors to VA mental health care for the 60% of transitioning veterans who are now ineligible for long-term VA medical benefits - usually because they lack a verified service-connected disability or service in a combat zone.

"You have to remember if there is something wrong with a president that kicks him out of office, everyone who comes with him leaves".

Lee pointed out that military commanders must take assessments to ensure they are mentally fit for those positions.
