"The feedback has been incredibly positive and is resulting in a significant inflow of business and strategic partnership opportunities with some leading organizations from around the globe", said Paul Travers, President and CEO of Vuzix.

Amazon confirmed Vuzix's claim of being first with Alexa-backed AR smart glasses and said it is "excited about the potential of the glasses and the ability to bring Alexa to customers in a new way".

We'll see Vuzix's AR glasses with Alexa support before the summer of 2018, at a price point around $1,000 Dollars.

Vuzix is in the business of smart glasses for over 20 years.

Don't cry for Project Tango, it's already dead reincarnated. The new Vuzix Blade with Alexa is getting the most attention of any of their previous products. It is unclear which models specifically will get it, but Entune 3.0 first came to the fold past year via the 2018 Toyota Camry.

"As Vuzix' next earnest step into consumer-grade augmented reality, the Vuzix Blade AR glasses will undoubtedly blaze the trail toward logical, approachable AR for everyone, with Amazon's Alexa digital assistant steering the wheel".

A new initiative announced in the framework of the exhibition electronics CES 2018, taking place in Las Vegas (NV, USA). Of course, it's the enterprising young Vuzix who are taking the reigns and spearheading Alexa's incorporation into augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) devices.

Toyota is not the first automaker to pair up with Amazon. Google tried to commercialize this technology way back in 2012. Meanwhile, Amazon will release Alexa app in the coming weeks, and PC makers are seeking help from Intel's Smart Sound Technology to ensure hands-free access to Alexa on PCs. Vuzik's Travers expects Amazon to eventually offer its own version of Alexa-enabled AR glasses.
