Our sister station WMAQ-TV in Chicago reports that there was a pursuit of a bus in Wisconsin, and troopers responded once it crossed into IL.

According to Illinois State Police, the pursuit began in Wisconsin on I-94 around 10 p.m. after a report of an armed suspect aboard the bus. The pursuit ended near the exit for Illinois Route 173 near Wadsworth.

Approximately 40 passengers aboard the bus were evacuated, police said. A man with a gun was reportedly on the bus, the Lake County sheriff's office said. They were eventually removed from the bus safely.

Initially, authorities reported a "possible hostage situation".

Illinois State Police did not release any more information about the incident.

WISN 12 News spotted officers pulling a backpack from the bus and searching it along the side of the interstate.

Because of this incident, all lanes of southbound I-94 near Wisconsin 50 in Kenosha County were shut down.

This is a developing story.
