Suspect arrested in College of Pennsylvania pupil demise

Woodward appeared nervous while being interviewed by sheriff's investigators, before the body had been found, saying Bernstein walked into the park after exiting the vehicle and he didn't see him again, according to a search warrant affidavit obtained earlier this week by the Southern California News Group.

Samuel Woodward, 21, was taken into custody Friday shortly after leaving his home in Newport Beach, according to a source with knowledge of the case.

Investigators had said they are treating his death as a homicide. Woodward and Bernstein knew each other, but authorities did not provide details on the nature of their relationship.

Woodward told investigators that he left the park after Bernstein went out and didn't return or respond to social media messages. PREVIOUS STORY BELOW.Bernstein's body was found Tuesday in the brush along the perimeter of Lake Forest's Borrego Park after he had been missing for a week.

"Revenge is empty", Bernstein's mother, Jeanne Pepper Bernstein, wrote on Twitter after the arrest was announced.

Samuel Lincoln Woodward, 20, has been arrested in connection with the death of Blaze Bernstein.

"Nothing will bring back my son, so we ask the world to please honor Blaze's memory by doing an act of kindness today".

'My only hopes are that he will never have the opportunity to hurt anyone else again and that something meaningful can come from the senseless act of Blaze's murder.

Woodward attended Orange County School of the Arts around the same time as Bernstein. Investigators have been unable to confirm whether there was a third person at the park. Bernstein's father, Gideon Bernstein, had also worked with friends of the family to conduct independent drone operations.

Woodward also had scratches on his hands, which police say he told them he had sustained while participating in a fight club.

Detectives noted the friend had dirt under his fingernails during the interview, to which he claimed was caused by a fall.

In one interview, the friend could not recall his girlfriend's last name, the Register reported.

"On their way out of Sheriff's Headquarters, (investigators) noticed every door (the friend) had to touch on the way out of the building he pulled his jacket over his hand to prevent his hand and fingers from touching any part of the doors he touched".

"With his death a attractive light has been extinguished".

"With his death, a lovely light has been extinguished and we encourage you to continue to shine his light, through acts of loving kindness", the family said in a statement read by attorney Annee Della Donna.
