NRI held for molesting American in a five-star hotel

In yet another horrific incident of crime against women in the national capital, a 52-year-old U.S. national was allegedly molested by an NRI at a five-star hotel in the VIP zone Lutyens' Delhi. The accused identified as Anmol Singh Kharbanda met and struck a conversation with the 52-year-old woman at the hotel bar around 10 PM on January 8.

According to BK Singh, Additional CP, New Delhi, the woman filed a complaint against the accused on Thursday after returning to New Delhi from Jaipur the very next day after the incident.

He has been sent for judicial custody, the officer said. "He had offered her drinks and a smoke in his hotel room". "She has alleged that he tried to grab her and molested her besides offering some laced drinks", said additional commissioner of police (New Delhi) B.K. Singh. However, she managed to push him away and leave the room.

"Based on her statement, we registered a case of molestation and causing hurt by means of poison at Chanakyapuri police station", Singh told the Hindustan Times. Police have recorded the woman's statement before the magistrate. "She later revisited Delhi to report the matter", said an officer. We have been in contact with the lady guest, a formal complaint with the authorities was also facilitated by the hotel team.The hotel will cooperate with the authorities in any investigation. A spokesperson for Taj Diplomatic Enclave said they have been providing all support to police. "We are aware of this incident".

"When he returned to the hotel room on January 9 night, the hotel security informed the police and he was arrested", the ACP added.
