Detective Pikachu originally launched in Japan back in 2016, but now its finally being localized!

Nintendo will release the New 2DS XL Pikachu Edition in North America on January 26 for $159.99, the company announced.

Detective Pikachu is an action-adventure title where players take on the role of the beloved Pikachu, who alongside human detective Tim Goodman investigate the disappearance of the latter's father. There is also movie based on the game in the works, starring Ryan Reynolds as the titular character. Shortly after the excitement died down from Detective Pikachu, Nintendo revealed this incredibly slick New Nintendo 2DS XL Pikachu Edition! The Detective Pikachu amiibo will be used to view all the short Pika Prompt videos from previously completed chapters of the game, including Pika Prompts players may have missed earlier. This version of the popular Pokemon mascot not only talks but also has dreams to become a great detective, hence the name of the game. For someone like me who constantly uses hints in puzzle games, the amiibo's functionality is a godsend.

A new Detective Pikachu Amiibo has been unveiled, and the sheer size of this thing makes it a crucial addition to any hardcore Amiibo fan's collection. He isn't doing it alone, of course, with the gritty, coffee-addicted Detective Pikachu at his side. Also, Nintendo is releasing an absolutely very big amiibo alongside the game.
