With a Hollywood star added to her already cemented legacy, Blige's story now lives on forever.

Blige received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame during a ceremony that celebrity friends of the singer attended.

"So Dee I want to thank you for calling me". "I'm so grateful for this star right now, because I've earned it probably three times. "God gave me the strength to keep steppin" and keep my head up regardless of what anybody thought about me, regardless of what anybody said about me", she continued.

In addition to the long overdue ceremony the "Real Love" songstress was recently nominated for a Golden Globe Award for her work in the critically acclaimed Mudbound. "It set me free from all of the negativity and all of the confusion happening outside of our home".

Blige went a bit long with her speech but she wanted to acknowledge a lot of people who were instrumental in her life and music career which has sold over 75 million records. The singer and actress were supported by her longtime friend, Diddy and record producer, Andre Harrel who both gave attractive speeches about her.

"I am feeling like a proud father", Harrell, who founded Uptown Records, the label that signed Blige in 1989, said. He told about the first time he listened to a tape recording of her. The hip-hop mogul was also on hand to honor her. "We started from nothing". She was a single-parent mother. and she raised us on her own. I had two rims on it because I couldn't afford four. we would just drive down the highway in NY, and we would just dream. We want to be big. "We wanna come and shake up the world.' And we did that". Fans in attendance greeted her by singing "Happy Birthday", Variety reported.
