The film franchise's team will executive produce, (think Reeves, Basil Iwanyk, Chad Stahelski, Derek Kostad, David Leitch).

The network announced today it was moving forward with the previously rumored series, which will be called The Continental. The Continental will explore the inner workings of the Continental hotel.

Chris Collins (The Man in the High Castle) will be the showrunner and write the series.

"Yes, Keanu is an executive producer", Zlotnick said. The assassin friendly hotel is a major player in the John Wick universe, with several establishments across the world.

In an age where launching an original franchise - much less an entire cinematic universe - is incredibly hard, John Wick is the little intellectual property that could: in the span of a mere four years, the movie has received a sequel, the announcements of a trilogy-capper and a planned spin-off entitled The Ballerina, a comic series, and a video game in development.

A new John Wick television series is in the works at Starz according to The Hollywood Reporter. John Wick became a huge hit, so much so that John Wick: Chapter 2 hit theaters a year ago, and John Wick: Chapter 3 is now gearing up to start filming very soon.

Chris Albrecht, CEO of Starz, confirmed that The Continental would exist concurrent with John Wick films.

Stahelski, will direct the premiere episode of The Continental and said, "They've got a really good structure".

John Wick, produced by Lionsgate - which now fully owns Starz - has grossed almost $300 million worldwide. "'The Continental' promises to include the thunderous fight sequences and intensely staged shootouts between professional assassins and their targets that fans have come to expect in the John Wick movie franchise as well as introducing some new, darkly compelling characters who inhabit this underground world".
