A young dog named Cathleen escaped her foster home twice and ventured off to find her original family that were left with no choice but to give her up.

After her family moved to a new home in the Oklahoma city of Seminole, they decided the couldn't keep Cathleen, a 6-year-old Great Pyrenees mix, and gave her to someone living in Prague, a little less than 20 miles away, according to KOCO. "She may seem shy at first but will open up to you definitely".

She walked from Prague to Seminole, a 20-mile trip, looking for her family.

Case in point: A dog named Cathleen walked nearly 40 miles to find her previous owners, who could no longer take care of her.

It's not clear why Cathleen's family could no longer care for her; several people commented that they would donate money to help them.

'Her heart wants to be with them but they can not keep her, ' the animal shelter said in a Facebook post. She is humble, kind and passive. "We have now stepped in to assist Cathleen on her next journey".

This dog knew where she belonged, and distance was not an obstacle. The shelter pointed out that Cathleen is just one of many dogs that need homes and families to love them. "I tried to get her, but I couldn't, so I called Animal Control", she said.

On Friday, the shelter announced that Cathleen now has a new home in Texas.

The humane society's post drew quite a bit of media attention.
