Matt, who normally works on horse racing, joined the series this year replacing Tony Gubba who passed away in 2013.

TalkSport commentator Sam Matterface may be on safe ground when it comes to talking about football but he faces a whole new challenge this weekend as he takes up his new position as part of the Dancing on Ice presentation team.

TALKSPORT host Sam Matterface has been hired as the new Dancing On Ice commentator replacing Matt Chapman, the Sun's freakish column can reveal.

He added: 'I wish the show the best of luck for the rest of the run'.

Not one to miss an opportunity, Iain then pulled some sparkly headphones from under the desk, much like the ones Matt had on during the show, and said: "I am now out of a job, I have got my own headphones, and I'm free at the weekends so if you need anyone I'll come and do it".

He is the latest to leave the show after cricketer Monty Panesar was forced to leave after breaking his ankle during training.

An ITV spokesman confirmed Matt is off, but did not give a reason for his sudden departure - although it has been reported that the move is down to a scheduling clash. A source told The Sun: "Matt decided he couldn't make his diary work as he thought".

One tweeted: "Not sure about the new voiceover guy, sounds a bit like a drunk uncle at a wedding speech", while another said: "commentator was a bit OTT".

"That commentator was absolutely dire", wrote one fan after the programme aired.

He had previously commentated on professional ice-skating for the broadcaster.

On the first live show, 6 of the 12 new celebrities took to the ice for a live performance, kicking off a 10-week series.
