A number of carmakers have introduced Amazon Alexa voice commands that can activate the locks and climate control on their cars, but Toyota is going a step further with Alexa integration by bringing Alexa into the auto.

"As Vuzix' next earnest step into consumer-grade augmented reality, the Vuzix Blade AR glasses will undoubtedly blaze the trail toward logical, approachable AR for everyone, with Amazon's Alexa digital assistant steering the wheel".

A new initiative announced in the framework of the exhibition electronics CES 2018, taking place in Las Vegas (NV, USA). "Our vision for Alexa is that she should be everywhere a customer might need her - at home, in the office, on phones - and in cars".

Amazon is integrating the Alexa virtual assistant into more non-Amazon devices, including desktop and laptop computers from several manufacturers, a line of Kohler products and new auto models, according to The Verge and other publications covering the announcements coming out of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week.

The move will allow Toyota drivers to use Alexa's speech-command system to order navigation, pick entertainment options, get the news, add items to a shopping cart and other services. Toyota hasn't announced which models will be able to connect to Amazon Alexa this year, but more Toyota and Lexus vehicles are expected to get the feature in 2019. The Alexa integration in the United States will be available via a software update through Acer Care Centre, but its wider availability is expected for sometime in the mid of 2018.

"Vuzix continues to lead the way in wearable smart glasses innovation and it should come as no surprise that the Vuzix Blade AR Smart Sunglasses will be the first pair of smart glasses to be Alexa-Enabled".

But Amazon's deal with Toyota, one of the world's largest automakers, marks new heights for Alexa's world domination.
