Kevin Gates is finally a free man.

According to TMZ, the rapper was scheduled to be released from an IL state prison today (Wed, Jan. 10) on parole, and unlike the last time he was scheduled to be released, this time around he was able to successfully walk out of prison with no surprise warrants or re-arrests.

He posted to Instagram for the first time since his released Wednesday morning - an all-black image that says "I'm him".

Billboard reached out to Gates' reps for comment.

The rapper released several mixtapes such as Stranger Than Fiction, By Any Means, and Luca Brasi 2.

Gates previously spent time in prison after he was convicted of kicking a female fan during a performance in Florida.

Two years ago, Gilyard released his debut studio album, Islah.

Fans of the rapper immediately took to Twitter to express their excitement about his release from prison.

Gates, who served nine months out of a 30-month sentence for a felony weapons charge, was reportedly let go on parole.
