One such fan, Chrissy Teigan, a model and TV show host, posted on Twitter about how much she enjoyed Prince of Persia and wondered if the franchise was still kicking.

The first game in the Prince of Persia series debuted in 1989 for the Apple II home computer, and since then there's been 14 games in the series, most recently The Shadow and the Flame remake for iOS and Android. Until now! Rumors have been circulating that a new Prince of Persia game might be in the works.

The creator of the Prince of Persia franchise, Jordan Mechner, may well be actively working to revive the franchise, which has been seemingly dead since 2010. Mechner saw the tweet and responded himself, saying that other fans have asked similar questions and that he's trying his best to make it happen.

Unfortunately, "we're doing our best" doesn't mean it's happening just yet.

From where we're sitting, it appears that Mechner is keen on bringing Prince of Persia to modern machines, but Ubisoft isn't playing ball right now.

Rumors a few years back, suggested that Ubisoft had started work on a Prince of Persia reboot, codenamed Prince of Persia Zero.

A new Prince of Persia has yet to be confirmed. Do you have fond memories of the older games? Whether that is a deliberate carrot to gain headlines and gauge reaction, we don't know - but if they are looking for a reaction. they've got our vote for a revival!
