Tata Motors total sales jump 52.48 pc to 54627 units in Dec

Tata Motors Head of Commercial Vehicle Business Unit Girish Wagh said the growth of CV sales in December was on the on the back of new product introductions across segments and improved availability of the new range of BS4 vehicles.

The company's commercial vehicle sales grew by a strong 62% to 40447 units last month. However, the stock raced higher again to hit a high of 438.85 almost an hour past noon.

Indian two-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor Company has started New Year with a bang at the stock market on Tuesday (2 January 2018). The steady production ramp-up and BS IV vehicles and the uptick in growth in the consumption-driven sector buoyed volumes. The M&HCV trucks segment continues its growth trend with decent sales at 15,828 units, higher by 83 per cent, over past year.

Scooter sales grew by 50.5 per cent from 55,557 units in December 2016 to 83,640 units in December 2017, while motorcycle sales grew by 63.7 per cent to 95,281 units in the reporting month. Two-wheeler exports grew by 52.7% to 39,852 units in December 2017 over December 2016.

In the nine months to December 2017, the company sold almost 2.7 lakh units in the commercial vehicles segment, up 17% over sales in the corresponding period a year earlier.

Tata Motors President, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Mayank Pareek said the company recorded its highest ever December sales since 2012, backed by new generation products like Tiago, Tigor, Hexa and Nexon.

During the month, domestic two-wheeler sales increased 35.4 percent to 2,07,778 units as against 1,53,456 units in the year-ago month, it added. The commercial passenger carrier segment (including buses) sales at 4411 units also grew by 19% over past year.
