We had earlier reported that Toyota is working on a new racing concept under the Gazoo Racing brand, which manufactures for the Le Mans. The Tokyo Auto Salon 2018 is scheduled to debut on January 12 with the press day.

Toyota released a teaser image today showing what looks like a Le Mans prototype race auto. As part of this integrated development process from motorsports activities through product development, Toyota launched the new "GR" sports auto series in September. Instead, it appears to be an LMP-inspired street vehicle.

While we can not make out much from the teaser image, it is clear that the GR Super Sport Concept will share resemblance with the Le Mans styled race auto.

Toyota's racing division revealed that the Super Sport Concept is an example of how they can incorporate the technological feedback and expertise they acquire from national rallies and races including the World Rally Championship (WRC) and World Endurance Championship (WEC) series. It's possible that the concept vehicle may be transformed into a street-legal vehicle.

In addition to vehicles competing in motorsports such as the Yaris WRC and TS050 Hybrid, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing will also be exhibiting the GR Super Sport Concept, a concept auto originate from participation in the WEC, as one example of how technological feedback acquired through motorsports activities is incorporated. Who would have thought Toyota would ever sell a 207-hp rally-inspired Yaris?

Considering the fact that we're talking about Toyota here, we're betting it stays a concept, but you never know.
