The larger Pixel 2 XL gets a larger US$75 discount, with prices going from US$849 to US$774 for the 64 GB version, and from US$949 to US$874 for the 128 GB version. Google is not known for throwing about discounts for its phones.

Google's latest flagship Android smartphones, in case you have been living under a rock for the past couple of months, are the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL.

Perhaps Google has noticed this and it's now offering, for a limited time, a discount of $50 on the Pixel 2 and $75 on the Pixel 2 XL via the official online store.

Google Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL: which one should you buy?

The promotion runs until December 31, but for customers who would like to receive the smartphone before the holidays, it would be best to place an order as soon as possible. The trade-in values offered cover a range from acceptable to unfortunate, but it's a more convenient option for some than selling a phone via Swappa or Craigslist-even if you might make more money back that way.

Google must be getting into the "giving" season because now you can get up to $500 off a new Pixel device. For awhile, Verizon was offering $300 off Pixel 2 devices, but Google never made a move on a discount. Google also recently released AR stickers with Star Wars and Stranger Things themes, which will be a huge bonus for fans of either or both franchises. Google is already working on a fix for the problem, but users can activate the Always On feature in the meantime as a workaround, though that would mean shorter battery lives.
