Fire breaks out at Cameron House Hotel

Emergency services were called to the resort at 6.44am and a number of guests were evacuated from the building.

At least one person has died, while four others - including a child - have been taken to hospital.

Pictures on social media showed guests and staff standing outside the hotel while emergency services took control of the area.

We are now at a hotel fire, the call was received at 4.43am as a call from the fire service.

"Three patients - two adults and one child - were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital".

"We have resources at the scene, with four ambulances, two rapid response vehicles, two duty officers and a hazardous area response team from the North West Ambulance Service".

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "One person was pronounced dead at the scene".

The hotel is a popular wedding venue and houses the Michelin star Martin Wishart at Loch Lomond restaurant.

Jackie Bailie, Scottish Labour MSP, tweeted: "Devastating news about the fire at Cameron House".

The Scottish fire and rescue service said it was still on the scene on Monday afternoon, having been alerted at about the same time.

"Thanks to the emergency services who have been working all morning to get the fire under control".

"Firefighters are now in the process of searching the building while fighting the fire using powerful water jets".

Cameron House said on its website that it had closed to arriving guests for at least the next two days, citing an "ongoing incident".
