Four people are dead following a head-on collision involving a wrong-way driver in Lake View Terrace.

A 63-year-old Helendale man lost his life in a motorcycle crash just after sunset Saturday on the 210 Freeway in Azusa, according to the California Highway Patrol.

An official walks past a vehicle involved in a head-on collision involving a wrong-way driver that happened along the 210 Freeway near Lake View Terrace on December 17, 2017.

On scene, officers determined that the Impala, which was found blocking the No. 3 and No. 4 lanes of the freeway facing southeast, had been traveling the wrong way before the crash, CHP officials said. The driver of that auto, a Chatsworth man in his 30s, died at the scene.

He was riding a 2018 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, going about 45 miles per hour in the carpool lane, when he crashed into a 2017 Toyota RAV4 SUV that was stopped in the carpool lane ahead of him, according to Officer D. Huggett of the CHP's Baldwin Park-area office.

The CHP said that three died at the scene of the crash, ABC7 reported. Investigators are looking into whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.

All lanes of westbound Highway 24 were closed after a major-injury crash, authorities said Sunday.
